Australia-Indonesia Institute Call for Applications - Reminder

The Australia-Indonesia Institute (AII) is inviting applicants from Indonesia and Australia to submit project proposals aimed at promoting greater mutual understanding, contact and exchange between the people of Australia and Indonesia.

The Institute supports programs to enhance relations between our two countries in areas including education, interfaith, youth, arts and culture, civil society, media, and Australian studies. Prospective applicants should note that the annual level of grant funding in the various areas will vary, depending on the priorities of the Institute and the quality of applications. Project funding is very competitive and normally limited to a maximum of AUD20,000 per applicant.

The Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Bill Farmer, said creative initiatives to promote new areas of contact between Australia and Indonesia to strengthen people-to-people links were welcome.

"The recent sport cooperation initiative between Australia and Indonesia under the Allan Taylor Sports Award is a good example of such initiatives," Farmer said.

The next Board Meeting of the Institute will be held on 26 July 2010, at which time the Board will consider applications for grant funding. Applications to be considered for this meeting must be received by the Secretariat by close of business on Friday, 18 June 2010. Late applications will not be accepted.

More information on the Institute and the grant application process is available on the AII website at http://www.dfat.gov.au/aii. Applicants from Indonesia must submit their applications through the Cultural Office at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta:
