OZMINE 2011 Exhibition and Conference
29 – 30 March 2011, Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta

Australia’s mining expertise will be on show at OZMINE 2011, Austrade’s largest international mining exhibition and conference in Asia, which will be held in Jakarta at the Shangri La Hotel on 29 – 30 March 2011.

The exhibition will be officially opened by Australia’s Chargé d’Affaires, Mr Paul Robilliard, with senior Indonesian representatives from the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

This year’s conference theme is ‘Next Generation Mining: Transforming Indonesia’, and will focus on discussions with some of the largest mining companies in Indonesia which together employ over 30,000 people and export some A$50 billion in minerals internationally from Indonesia. “Critical to all this development is project financing, and we are very pleased to dedicate a specific session to this topic at the conference,” Austrade’s Regional Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner, Mr Leith Doody, announced.

“Over 90 Australian mining companies will participate in the OZMINE 2011 exhibition and conference. It will showcase the latest in mining equipment, technology, services and consumables from the world leading Australian mining sector, and is a great way for the local mining operators to get an understanding of the latest innovations and technology, in their own backyard,” said Mr Doody.

Australia’s mining industry is the third largest in the world. Approximately 60 per cent of the world’s mines use mining software that was developed in Australia. Many of the 400 Australian companies operating in Indonesia are also involved in the Indonesian mining sector.

Australia’s Chargé d’Affaires, Mr Paul Robilliard, said the mining sector represents a vital industry for both Australia and Indonesia and both countries could benefit from a continued close working relationship and open dialogue in this sector.

“Australians are continually looking to invest and operate in the Indonesian mining sector. We are supportive of this and know that they can provide real tangible benefits to the market and bring with them world best practice and technologies that will ultimately benefit Indonesia’s mining development,” said Mr Robilliard.

OZMINE 2011 is expected to draw some 2,000 trade visitors to the exhibition and conference including visitors from major mining companies across the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The exhibition is free to industry and is open from 9am to 5pm on 29 - 30 March 2011. The conference is by invitation and pre-registration only.
