Australia-Indonesia Institute (AII) Project Funding Round Now Open

The Australia-Indonesia Institute (AII) is now calling for applicants from Indonesia and Australia to submit project proposals aimed at promoting greater mutual understanding, contact and exchange between the people of both countries.

The Institute supports programs to enhance relations between our two countries in the areas of arts, education and Australian Studies, youth, civil society, inter-faith, media and sports. The AII grants are intended to provide seed funding for innovative proposals relevant to the aims and objectives of the Institute. Project funding is awarded through a competitive selection process and normally limited to a maximum of AUD20, 000 per applicant.

“The AII plays an important role in strengthening the people-to-people linkages between our two nations,” said the Australian Deputy Head of Mission, Paul Robilliard.

“As neighbours and strategic partners, the work of the AII fulfils an important role in updating perceptions and understanding between the people of Indonesia and Australia,” Robilliard said.

Applicants must complete in English the Online Grant Application form (available at http://dfat.smartygrants.com.au/aii) and provide all mandatory requested information and documentation. Applications must be completed and lodged on the system by Friday 3 June 2011 at 14:00 WIB.

More information on the Institute and the grant application process is available on the AII website at http://www.dfat.gov.au/aii. Applicants in Indonesia are advised to contact the Cultural Office at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta (Tel. +62-21 2550 5260, Fax. +62-21 5227104, Email: [email protected]) to discuss their application or if they have any queries in relation to the Online Grant Application form.

The AII was established by the Australian Government in 1989 to contribute to a more broadly based and enduring relationship between Australia and Indonesia.
