Australian Embassy VS Muhammadiyah Futsal

Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Greg Moriarty, warmly welcomed Minister Patrialis Akbar and Prof Din Syamsuddin at today’s friendly futsal match between the Australian Embassy and the Muhammadiyah team.

“I am very pleased to host the first futsal match between the Australian Embassy and one of the largest Islamic organisations in Indonesia. This match is a demonstration of our friendship and our long standing relationship with Muhammadiyah,” said Ambassador Moriarty.

The Australian Government values the partnership it has with Muhammadiyah. It is based on a joint commitment to enhance the development of Indonesia and fostering good relations between the two countries.

The commitment of this partnership is recognised in the MoU between the Government of Australia and Muhammadiyah (2008-2013).

Australia has worked with Muhammadiyah since 2005 to improve the quality of basic education in Madrasah.

“Muhammadiyah has a long history of providing basic services such as health and education to Indonesian people and Australia is proud to have the opportunity to work with Muhammadiyah in many sectors including disaster preparedness and education,” Ambassador Moriarty said.
