Eighteen more artworks have been installed at Tembok Seni Australia, the temporary outdoor art gallery on the wall surrounding the site of the new Australian Embassy in South Jakarta.

Primary and secondary school students from across Indonesia created the artworks, which have been reproduced on large canvases. Most of the schools have an on-going collaborative relationship with an Australian school under the BRIDGE (Building Relation through Intercultural Dialogue and Growing Engagement) Project.

The schools include: MAN 4 Jakarta, SD Al Ihzar Jakarta, SDN 4 Cilegon, SMA Katolik Kesuma Mataram, SMA Katolik Kolese Santo Yusuf Malang, SMAN Sumatera Selatan, SMPN 19 Jakarta, SMPN 1 Surabaya and SMPN 3 Ubud.

Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Greg Moriarty said he was impressed by the high quality of the artworks.

“The talent of these young Indonesians is clear to see. The pictures are rich in colour and depict Australia-Indonesia friendship and beautiful places in Indonesia and Australia,” said the Ambassador.

“I am pleased the embassy has been able to provide this unique opportunity for school students to display their artwork publicly on the embassy’s art wall. All Indonesians should be proud of the creativity of their young people,” he said.

Tembok Seni Australia was officially opened in February with the first collection of 30 pictures on display along Jalan Taman Patra Kuningan. This second collection brings to 48 number of pictures on the art wall.

The new Australian Embassy complex is expected to be completed by August 2015 and will be Australia’s largest embassy facility in the world.
