Bribery Allegation concerning Securency

The Australian Government does not condone illegal conduct by Australians overseas. Australia is a party to a number of international conventions relating to bribery of foreign officials and corruption. Australia has also passed implementing legislation making it an offense to bribe a foreign public official. This offence extends to conduct outside Australia if it is committed by an Australian citizen, resident or company.

We take seriously any allegations of bribery, including the allegations against Securency’s agents. The Securency matter was appropriately referred to the Australian Federal Police and is the subject of ongoing inquiries.

The Australian Government is unable to comment further on the specifics of the matters related to these allegations.
