Celebrating Australia’s co-hosting of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, the Australian Embassy Jakarta has teamed up with Football Australia and the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) to deliver a series of football and coaching clinics in Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya from 5-9 June 2023.

With a focus on empowering female athletes and sports professionals, the clinics will provide an opportunity for football players and coaches from Australia and Indonesia to forge new friendships on the pitch, while sharing knowledge and skills.

“Both Australia and Indonesia are known as passionate sporting nations. I hope these clinics help to create new connections between our sports communities and inspire future leaders on the field, ” said Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Penny Williams PSM.

The clinics will be led by professional Australian footballer Gema Simon. Ms Simon has represented Australia with the CommBank Matildas 11 times and played in Australia’s top-tier A-League Women’s competition for both the Newcastle Jets and Melbourne Victory, as well as playing for professional clubs in South Korea, Canada, Norway and Iceland.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia-New Zealand 2023 is the world’s largest women’s sporting event, the first in the Southern Hemisphere and the first to be co-hosted by two confederations (AFC and OFC). The Australian Government is fully committed to supporting the delivery of the most successful Women’s World Cup and creating an enduring legacy for women’s sport globally.
