Media Release

5 February 2024

Indonesian Chief of Air Force Staff (Kasau), ACM Fadjar Prasetyo has been presented with a significant Australian honour at a ceremony at the Australian Embassy, Jakarta.

Kasau has been appointed an honorary officer of the Order of Australia (Military Division) for his important contribution to strengthening the Indonesia – Australia bilateral defence relationship.

In the Australian honours system, appointments to the Order of Australia confer the highest recognition for outstanding achievement and service.

Australian Ambassador to Indonesia HE Penny Williams PSM said the award recognises ACM Prasetyo’s leading role in strengthening our bilateral Air Force program as Kasau.

“The citation outlines how ACM Prasetyo’s outstanding leadership, vision, and dedication have enhanced our capacity to operate effectively together.”

“His support for the inaugural deployment of RAAF F-35s to operate out of Indonesian bases as part of large scale multilateral air exercises has increased opportunities for complex combined training and deeper bilateral engagement,” Ambassador Williams said.

ACM Fadjar Prasetyo assumed the role of Kasau in May 2020 and prioritised engagement with Australian Air Force senior leaders early in his tenure. His focus on capability development has seen increased bilateral training placements as well as the integration of new capabilities into combined training. Under his leadership, the Australian and Indonesian Air Forces have continued to build trust and strengthen their professional connections.
