Australia’s Deakin University and UK’s Lancaster University to Expand Presence in Indonesia

Australia’s Deakin University and UK’s Lancaster University will open their first joint foreign campus in Bandung, West Java. This will also be the first Australia-UK joint campus overseas. 

Acting Australian Deputy Ambassador to Indonesia, Tim Stapleton, attended the launch of the Deakin University Lancaster University Partnership in Bandung on 7 March 2024.  

The launch marks a significant milestone for both universities’ commitment to expand their presence in Indonesia and globally.  

“Education is the bedrock of our people-to-people relationship. Australia and Indonesia share a long history of cooperation in many sectors, including education. We are proud to support this initiative to provide world-class Australian education in Indonesia and strengthen our partnership.” 

“This innovative approach of establishing a joint campus in Bandung with UK’s Lancaster University will bring great benefits to West Java and Indonesia, including contributing to economic and human capital development.” 

Deakin-Lancaster is set to offer five undergraduate programs in the fields of information technology and business, with a first intake proposed for September 2024.
