The University of Melbourne strengthens its partnership with Indonesia

Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Bill Farmer, is pleased to open The University of Melbourne Open Day in Jakarta on Saturday 31 May.

Twenty-four academics from The University of Melbourne have travelled to Jakarta to participate in the Open Day, which aims to showcase The University of Melbourne’s courses of study; provide career and employability information; and provide information on study and lifestyle in Melbourne.

“I am very pleased to welcome the visit from The University of Melbourne. I encourage all those who are interested in study abroad to take advantage of the opportunity to meet with academics from this world-class Australian university,” said Education Counsellor Shannon Smith.

The Open Day is a unique opportunity to meet with professors and academics from The University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences; School of Engineering; School of Physiotherapy; Faculty of Architecture; Building and Planning; Film and Television; and The Faculty of Land and Food Resources.

Students and their parents attending the Open Day will receive first hand information from experts through a range of seminars and have the opportunity to discuss study options. Seminar topics range from courses of study, to job seeking strategies and lifestyle in Melbourne.

The University of Melbourne has a long history and strong commitment to Indonesia. The university has established partnerships of double degree with programs with three of the top universities in Indonesia. Tony Crooks, Director International at The University of Melbourne stressed the importance of deepening ties between the university and its partners in Indonesia.

“Students from Indonesia studying at The University of Melbourne enrich the learning environment and culture of our university. This visit to Indonesia demonstrates our strong commitment to Indonesia and we look forward to deepening our partnerships in the years to come.”

The Open Day is open to the public and will take place in The Four Seasons Hotel in Kuningan Jakarta. The Seminar Programs runs from 2.30-6.45pm Saturday 31 May.
