Australian jazz band performs at Java Jazz festival

Ms Fiona Hoggart, Cultural Attaché, Australian Embassy announced today that the Australian Government will sponsor the world class jazz band “The Hipstones” to appear at Jakarta’s Java Jazz festival.

Ms Hoggart said “The Java Jazz festival is one of Indonesia’s biggest and most prestigious events. Australians and Indonesians share a love of jazz music – and this is a great opportunity to showcase Australian’s expertise in this genre”.

Sydney’s “Hipstones” have captured the imagination of Australian fans with their infectious and highly original blend of soul and new school funk. Their debut album “Something’s Gonna Start” met with a great reception and their shows have included appearances at the Sydney Opera House and the Annual Sydney Funk and Soul festival.

“The Hipstones” is scheduled to appear on:

  • Friday, 2 March 2007 – Java Jazz, Jakarta Convention Centre, 15.00-16.00 Exhibition Hall B (with Djanecy)
  • Saturday, 3 March 2007 – Java Jazz, Jakarta Convention Centre, 20.00-21.00 Cendrawasih 1
  • Sunday, 4 March 2007 – Java Jazz, Jakarta Convention Centre, 16.15-17.30 Exhibition Hall B
  • Monday, 5 March 2007 – Hard Rock Café, Bali
  • Tuesday, 6 March 2007 – Music Village, Bali (Java Jazz Post Party)
  • Wednesday, 7 March 2007 – Glossy Café, Bandung
  • Thursday, 8 March 2007 – Pangeran Pub, Padang
  • Saturday, 10 March 2007 – 1001 Club, Jambi
