Australia-Indonesia Institute (AII) Invites Project Funding Proposals
The Australia-Indonesia Institute (AII) is inviting applicants from Australia and Indonesia to submit funding proposals for projects designed to contribute to a more broadly based and enduring relationship between Australia and Indonesia.
The Institute supports a large number of projects in a wide range of areas including arts and culture, education, youth, civil society and media, interfaith, and Australian studies. All six program areas are open for grant applications but the areas of civil society, arts and culture (particularly popular culture), sports and Australian studies would particularly benefit from targeted and good quality applications.
The Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Bill Farmer, said Australia and Indonesia are now entering a new era of partnership with deeper and broader engagement across many sectors following the recent Australia-Indonesia Bilateral Conference in Sydney this year.
“The Australia-Indonesia Bilateral Conference succeeded in adding new depth to the already strong relationship we have fostered at the government-to-government level, and generated new ideas to take the partnership forward to 2020 – in particular, ways to strengthen people-to-people links,” Mr Farmer said.
The next Board Meeting of the Institute will be held on 20 August 2009, at which time the Board will consider applications for grant funding. Applications to be considered for this meeting must be received by the Secretariat by close of business on Friday, 10 July 2009.
More information on the Institute and the grant application process is available on the AII website at http://www.dfat.gov.au/aii.
