Finalists Announced in Study in Australia Climate Change Movie Competition
SMS Voting for Most Favourite Now Open!

The Australian Embassy today announced the five short-listed candidates in the Study in Australia Climate Change Short Movie Competition who stand a chance to win a sponsored five-day trip to Perth.

The competition, held in partnership with Perth Education City, the Indonesian Nobel Foundation and The Climate Project Indonesia, invited students aged 15 to 19 years in the greater Jakarta area to submit short movies addressing the theme Climate Change: What does it mean to you and your surroundings?

On behalf of the judging panel, noted film producer Mr Jay Subyakto announced the finalists as follows:

    1. Cornelia Lingawan and Stacy Gabriella: “Reuse Grey Water”
    2. Ariel Ezra Bezaliel and Kevin Johanes: “Nature’s Memory”
    3. Khosyi Yoga Pratama and Adriel Andriawan: “Hope”
    4. Shadia Pradsmadji and Pradnya Padminiamaitri: “What About a Global Change”
    5. Nurdarda Hajatulail and Zulfi Prayogo: “It’s Our World”

The winning team will be announced by the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Bill Farmer, at the opening of the Study in Australia Education Exhibition in Jakarta on Saturday 27 February 2010.

The Indonesian public are also encouraged to view the films online through Facebook under Study In Australia Indonesia and vote over the next three days for the “Most Favourite Short Movie” as decided by the public. SMS voting should be sent to 0813 9862 1154 with the voter’s Name, Age, Address and Favourite Movie Title.

The Study In Australia Exhibition is a five day event starting on 27 and 28 February at the Intercontinental MidPlaza Hotel, Jakarta and will visit Bandung on 1 March, Medan on 3 March and Surabaya on 6 March. Study in Australia is an official education exhibition organised by the Australian Embassy involving some 37 Australian universities and other education institutions and supported by Perth Education City, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Qantas.

Ambassador Farmer said Australian universities were well positioned in their research and curriculum development in addressing industry needs and in preparing the future workforce with adequate skills for the future green jobs market.
