Queensland Trade Delegation showcase Australia’s Mining Technology and Expertise

A Queensland trade delegation, led by the Queensland Government’s Special Trade Representative for ASEAN, Bob Quinn, is visiting Indonesia this week to showcase Australia’s expertise in mining technologies and services to the Indonesian market.

The trade visit from 29 November to 1 December follows the visit by the Indonesian Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources, HE Dr Darwin Saleh, to Queensland in March 2010 when he led a 24 member delegation of senior representatives from the Indonesian mining and energy sector to participate in the IQ 2010 Indonesian Queensland Business Showcase.

“The relationship between Australia and Indonesia in the mining and energy sector is a strong partnership. It is a partnership based on a shared interest in each other’s progress and prosperity,” said Australian Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires, Paul Robilliard.

“Mining and energy is a sector that plays a significant role in our trade relations. The visit will enable Australia and Indonesia to share each others’ experiences and expertise to increase our economic relationship,” added Mr Robilliard.

Indonesian Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr Darwin Saleh said “Australia and Indonesia are neighbours that maintain trade and cultural links for many years. There is big potential for us to develop cooperation between the Indonesian and Australian Government, particularly in the mining and energy sector.”

Queensland is working together with Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to establish a cooperative program in developing key aspects of Indonesia’s mining industry. For example Queensland is developing a comprehensive and extensive mine inspector training program with the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources funded by Australia.

During the visit, a safety and innovation workshop will be conducted together with Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Indonesian Mining Association.

The delegation includes representatives from SIMTARS, Automated Positioning Systems (APS), Trimble Planning Solutions, Sabre Teeth, iVolve, Industrea, Minetec, Groundprobe and SMEC, who will be available to share their expertise and technologies with the Indonesian mining and energy sector.
