Australia Welcomes Indonesian Assistance Towards Queensland Floods
Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Greg Moriarty, has expressed his sincere appreciation for the support shown by the Indonesian Government and people of Indonesia towards the victims of the devastating floods that have struck the Australian state of Queensland.
“The Australian Government welcomes Indonesia’s contribution of US$1 million towards the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal during this very difficult time,” Ambassador Moriarty said.
Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa announced this week the Indonesian Government would provide US$1 million to the Australian Government to respond to the flood disaster affected state of Queensland, Australia.
“Indonesia’s contribution to the Appeal and offers of assistance are a reflection of the close support we provide for each other as friends and neighbours during times of natural disaster. Australia values and appreciates that relationship,” Moriarty said.
The floods have caused tragic loss of life, and thousands of Australians, their houses and businesses have been severely affected by the devastating floods, which continue to pose serious threats in parts of Queensland and elsewhere.
