Australia’s Minister for Tertiary Education visits Indonesia to strengthen education links
Australia’s Minister for Tertiary Education, Senator Chris Evans, will visit Indonesia to attend the inaugural East Asia Summit Education Minister’s Meeting in Bali from 17 -19 July.
The meeting will be chaired by the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia, H. E. Prof. Mohammad Nuh and attended by Education Ministers of ASEAN Member States, Australia, the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and New Zealand.
“Australia’s partnership with Indonesia in education is a vital aspect of the bilateral relationship,” Senator Evans said.
“I look forward to meeting with Minister Nuh to explore further ways to strengthen and broaden our bilateral education relationship.”
“East Asia Summit (EAS) countries have a common interest in advancing education cooperation, which brings mutual and long-term benefits by supporting economic integration, improving people to people links and increasing the quantity and quality of education in the region.
“Our engagement with the EAS has been guided by a desire to bring tangible and mutual benefits to all member countries while ensuring the needs of developing countries are a priority.”
During his visit Senator Evans will follow-up on outcomes from his meeting with Minister Nuh in Perth earlier this year. Discussions will focus on collaboration on qualifications recognition, quality assurance arrangements, strengthening of university to university ties to encourage student and academic exchanges and support research collaboration.
