Australia’s Key ASEAN Mining Event Launched in Jakarta
Australia’s mining expertise will be on show at ozmine2012, the country’s key ASEAN mining exhibition and conference, which will be held in Jakarta at the Shangri La Hotel on 17-18 April 2012.
The exhibition will be officially opened by the Indonesian Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources HE Mr Jero Wacik, together with the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, HE Mr Greg Moriarty.
The ozmine2012 conference theme is ‘Sustainable and Responsible Mining: ASEAN and Australia in Synergy’. “Some of the largest Australian mining companies will take part - together they already employ many of the million-plus Indonesians who are working in the mining industry in this country,” said Ambassador Moriarty.
“Australian companies have made long term investments in Indonesia, and are committed to sustainable and responsible mining practices. They make substantial local contributions through training, technology transfer, dedicated education programs, and significant CSR programs and initiatives,” he added.
The mining sector is an economic mainstay for both Indonesia and Australia. “Mining creates hundreds of thousands of jobs, attracts important foreign direct investment and contributes billions of dollars to our economies through exports of minerals, mining services and technologies,” observed Ambassador Moriarty.
Over 100 Australian mining-related organisations will participate in ozmine2012. The exhibition will showcase the latest in mining equipment, technology, services and consumables from the world-class Australian mining sector. It is an effective opportunity for local mining operators to gain a first-hand understanding of the latest innovations and technology in their own backyard. Conference participants will discuss new mining regulations, green mining developments, sustainable mining programs, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and mine innovation.
ozmine2012 is expected to draw over 2,500 trade visitors to the exhibition and conference including visitors from major mining companies across the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. The exhibition is open to the public from 9.30am to 5.30pm on 17-18 April 2012. The conference is by invitation and pre-registration only.
