VP Boediono Awarded Honorary Degree from Monash University

The Australian Embassy congratulates Vice President Boediono, who was today awarded with an honorary Doctorate of Laws from Monash University.

The prestigious award was presented by Monash University Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Ed Byrne AO, in recognition of Vice President Boediono’s work in the field of economics.

Vice President Boediono has lectured and published extensively on economic policy and theory in Indonesia and was elected as Governor of Bank Indonesia in 2008.

Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Greg Moriarty welcomed the recognition given to the Vice President.

“Australia works very closely with the Vice President and his office to support the Indonesian Government’s development goals.”

“Australia holds Vice President Boediono in high esteem as a friend and a distinguished leader.”

"In particular, we welcome the attendance of President Yudhoyono at today's ceremony,” said Ambassador Moriarty.

VP Boediono has a close links with Australian Universities.

In 1967 he completed a Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in Perth and in 1972 completed his master’s degree in economics at Monash University.
