Australian Ambassador visits Bogor, West Java
Australia’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Paul Grigson, makes his first provincial visit to Bogor, West Java, today. The visit aims to strengthen regional relations and boost trade connections.
During the visit, Ambassador Grigson will meet Bogor Mayor Bima Arya, senior local figures and Australian alumni, as well as visiting an abattoir and the Bogor Grand Mosque.
“Bogor is a thriving city with strong connections to the capital. I’m looking forward to increasing our cooperation with Bogor and, in particular, meeting Mayor Bima Arya, who is himself an Australian alumnus,” said Ambassador Grigson.
During the visit, Ambassador Grigson will also attend a Saya Perempuan Anti Korupsi (SPAK) event. SPAK is a national campaign which aims to equip women with knowledge and networks to reduce public tolerance for corruption.
“Indonesian women have important roles to play in preventing corruption – be it in the workplace or at home. Australia is proud be working with the Indonesian Government to support this campaign,” said Ambassador Grigson.
Launched in 2014, the SPAK campaign is led by the KPK and several women’s organisations, with support from Bappenas and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Since its launch, around 25,000 women in 14 provinces have received SPAK training on corruption prevention. They have included public servants, teachers, university students, midwives, housewives and village-level social workers.
