Australian Ambassador HE Paul Grigson visits Bali
The Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Paul Grigson, begins a three day visit to Bali today to meet with political leaders, and members of the Indonesian and Australian business, arts and alumni communities.
A core goal of the visit will be the development of business opportunities in the tourism sector.
During the visit, Ambassador Grigson will meet the Governor, Made Mangku Pastika AO, and the Prince of Ubud, Ida Tjokorda Putra.
“Australians have a special affection for Bali, and with almost a million Australians visiting each year, it’s an island full of warm memories, due largely to the friendliness and generosity of the Balinese people,” Ambassador Grigson said.
Ambassador Grigson will also visit Konservasi Sawah, supported by the Australian Consulate-General’s Direct Aid Program (DAP). Founded in 2013, the Konservasi Sawah Foundation works to conserve land and generate economic opportunities for Balinese farmers.
An Ambassador’s Award will also be presented to Mr Richard Chandler, Chairman and Managing Director of the Bali Hai Group, in recognition of the company’s success in tourism over the last 25 years.
