Three Adelaide Fashion Festival designers are in Jakarta and Bandung this week to present their work and tour manufacturing and textile facilities.
Designs from South Australian brands Acler, Paige Rowe and SIG The Label and pieces from labels Naomi Murrell, Casper+Pearl, Pari and Tiff Manuell featured last night on the runway at the gala event for top Indonesian investors, fashion buyers and influential business identities in Jakarta.
A second parade will be staged on Wednesday in Bandung. The gala shows are a preview of the Adelaide Fashion Festival to be held in Adelaide from October 19-23.
SIG The Label manufactures many of its clothes in Bali as does Paige Rowe.
South Australian Minister for Investment and Trade Martin Hamilton-Smith said the South Australia’s fashion scene was building an international reputation for its world-class design.
“Indonesia is an attractive market for textiles and clothing because of its robust economic growth and rising purchasing power. There are mutual opportunities for growth and for our creative and talented designers to enter the marketplace,” Mr Hamilton-Smith said.
“These designers are among Adelaide’s new frontier of fashion and are motivated, inspired businesswomen who are building their labels independently,” he said.
The fashion shows are part of a business mission to Jakarta and Bandung by businesses from South Australia including those in the aviation, arts, fisheries, mining and education industries.
