Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Paul Grigson will make his first visit to Solo, Central Java today.
During his visit, Ambassador Grigson will meet Surakarta Mayor FX Hadi Rudyatmo, religious leaders, business figures and Australian alumni. The visit aims to strengthen cultural, business, education and people-to-people ties between Australia and Surakarta.
Ambassador Grigson will participate in a Saya Perempuan Anti Korupsi (SPAK) ceremony which also will be attended by Mayor Hadi Rudyatmo.
SPAK is a national campaign which is designed to empower women to prevent and reduce corruption.
“Indonesian women play an important role in combatting corruption. They are essential in teaching and enforcing this message within their families and broader communities,” said Ambassador Grigson.
While in Solo, Ambassador Grigson will also visit the historical and royal Masjid Agung Surakarta, and meet with students at Universitas Sebelas Maret.
