Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Paul Grigson will visit Cirebon, West Java today.
During his trip in Cirebon, Ambassador Grigson will continue on his journey to visit all nine Sunans with a visit to Sunan Gunung Jati Tomb and other historical sites.
Ambassador Grigson will also meet Sultan of Cirebon, Sultan Sepuh XIV PRA Arief Natadiningrat and Mayor of Cirebon, Drs Nasrudin Azis SH.
The visit will give Ambassador Grigson an opportunity to indulge his passion for Indonesian food and coffee by tasting local specialities such as nasi jamblang and empal gentong.
Cirebon is also home to State Islamic University Syekh Nurjati where the Ambassador will deliver a lecture on study opportunities in Australia.
“Australia is the most popular destinations for Indonesians studying abroad. Last year there were 19,300 Indonesian enrolments in Australia,” said Ambassador Grigson.
The Ambassador will also have a lesson in batik art which is thriving industry in Cirebon.
