Australian Deputy Ambassador to Indonesia, Dr Justin Lee will travel to Aceh today to meet with senior political and community leaders, alumni and academics. He will also open an Australian-Indonesian Government partnership program to boost employment and the delivery of basic services such as health, education and legal identity.
During his time in Banda Aceh Dr Lee will meet with Governor Zaini Abdullah H, Deputy Minister for National Development Planning and Head of National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Ibu Rahma Iryanti and Mayor Hj Illiza Sa’aduddin Djamal.
On Tuesday Dr Lee will open the KOMPAK program in Banda Aceh, a joint Australian-Indonesian Government initiative to empower communities to engage with provincial and sub-national government bodies. KOMPAK will support the Government of Aceh in its initiatives to improve basic services in three districts: Bireuen, Bener Meriah and Aceh Barat.
While in Banda Aceh, Dr Lee will also meet with Koalisi Perempuan Indonesia, PEKKA (Yayasan Pemberdayaan Perempuan Kepala Keluarga - Women Headed Family Empowerment) and Flower Aceh to discuss the integral role of women in village development.
