Jaimie Sortino, an Adelaide-based designer mesmerised the guests with his beautiful collections at the opening of Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2017 last night.
Sortino is the winner of the 2010 Adelaide Fashion Festival Emerging Designer Award. With an eye for romantic fairy tale gowns Sortino builds effortless drama into every design. Sortino’s raw romantic vision is tempered with a vibrant, modern edge that positions him as a creative force.
Each collection is handcrafted in Australia with a whimsical story behind each piece. His latest collection ‘Hymn to the Flora’ which featured at IFW 2017 is a tribute to the Flora. The colour palette of blues and purples has been pulled from real hydrangeas.
Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Paul Grigson said, “Jaimie Sortino’s collections reflect the creativity and sophistication of Australia’s fashion industry. His participation at IFW is evidence of a growing appetite for Australian design in Indonesia, while Indonesians designers are having great success with finding new markets in Australia.”
This is the third year Australia has participated in Indonesia Fashion Week, and follows the great success of Australian designers who have walked the catwalks at Jakarta Fashion Week and the Muslim Fashion Festival in recent years.
