A Small Corner of Australia Opens in Indonesia

Media Release

23 March 2017

Indonesian university students will be able to access a selection of Australian books and resources as well as information on study and scholarships at a number of #AussieBanget corners across the archipelago.

Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Paul Grigson opened the first #AussieBanget corner at BINUS University in Jakarta today, while others will be opened over the year in universities in Bali, Makassar, Malang, Medan, Surabaya and Yogyakarta.

“These corners will give some students their first taste of Australia while also providing a focal point for Australian Alumni,” Ambassador Grigson said.

Winner of the 2017 Outstanding Australian Alumni Award, Fahd Pahdepi said the Corners will be the perfect place for Alumni to share their experiences and help others who are interested in what it’s like to live and study in Australia.

“The connection to Australia doesn’t end once you return.  It is a vibrant and impressive Australian Alumni community here in Indonesia as more than 70,000 Indonesians have studied in Australia,” said Mr Pahdepi
