Australia is providing additional equipment to support the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and Ministry of Defence in their domestic COVID-19 response.
The Australian Ambassador Gary Quinlan said this equipment continued a long history of cooperation between Australian and Indonesian defence organisations in times of need.
“Australia and Indonesia are close partners and friends. Just as Indonesia helped Australia during the devastating bushfires last year, we are pleased to support Indonesia as we face the shared challenge of COVID-19 together”, Ambassador Quinlan said.
The package comprises testing kits, hand sanitiser and masks. It builds on equipment and supplies delivered last August, and brings our total support COVID-19 support to Indonesia under the Defence Cooperation Program to $4 million.
Defence cooperation is a key pillar of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Australia and Indonesia.
