Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Ms Penny Williams PSM begins her first official visit to Bali today.

Ambassador Williams will meet with the Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster and the Mayor of Denpasar, I.G. Ngurah Jaya Negara S.E, as well as business, education and community leaders.

A significant focus of Ambassador Williams’ visit will be to explore opportunities for greater cooperation between Australia and Bali through our growing higher education and creative and digital economy sectors.

“I am looking forward to meeting with leaders and innovators among Bali’s vibrant business, education and creative communities and learning about their wide-ranging connections to Australia”, said Ambassador Williams.

“Australia and Indonesia’s collaboration in these key sectors continues to grow and is a vital way to promote Australia’s greatest assets – our diversity, openness and innovation.”

Ambassador Williams will visit state-of-the-art business and creative facilities and meet with Australian Alumni contributing to Bali’s growing creative economy.

“As our economies recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, partnerships and collaborations focused on skills development and training in creative and digital sectors have never been more important” said Ambassador Williams.

Further exploring Bali and Australia’s strong educational links, Ambassador Williams will meet students undertaking a virtual cultural immersion program with Edith Cowan University.

The Ambassador will also visit programs supported by the Australian Consulate-General Bali’s Direct Aid Program (DAP).
