The Australian Trade and Investment Commission Invites Leading Chefs to ‘Taste and Create’ with Australian Produce

Media Release

30 November 2022

'Taste and Create with Australia’ hosted by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and its government and industry partners, is set to inspire leading executive chefs across Indonesia to develop innovative creations in their menus with the diverse varieties and to feature world class flavors of Australian fresh produce.

Austrade, in conjunction with state and territory governments including Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales as well as Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), and AUSVEG, aims to increase awareness among Indonesian executive chefs from leading restaurants on the availability of Australian fresh produce, seasonal variations, and new varieties and innovations – with new products available like ‘rainbow chard’.

The event also seeks to encourage closer business links between Indonesia and Australia along the premium food supply chain – from chefs, to distributors, suppliers and producers. A technical training program for Indonesian sous chefs interested in building their knowledge of and practical experience in butchering Australian beef and lamb, and preparing different varieties of Australian fruits and vegetables, will also be included in the program.

Australian Charge d’Affaires, Steven Scott said, “We are very happy to host this event and collaborate with our Indonesian partners to showcase Australian produce and ingredients. We hope that this event not only profiles the world-class quality of Australian produce, but also provides an important platform to build stronger connections between Indonesian and Australian businesses in the supply chain and supports ongoing professional training of the new generation of Indonesian chefs in leading restaurants.”

The ‘Taste and Create with Australia’ event will be followed by a further series of activities across Jakarta, Bali and Surabaya in 2023, including a ‘Chef’s Challenge’ which will see selected Chefs invited to visit Australian farms and partners in 2023.

The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) promotes Australian trade, investment, tourism and education globally, delivering services to connect Australian business to the world and the world to Australian businesses.
