Festival Sinema Australia Indonesia 2023 is Back to Cinema, Celebrating 70th Anniversary of Australian Scholarships Program in Indonesia

Festival Sinema Australia Indonesia (FSAI) is back! Showcasing the best in Australian and Indonesian film, FSAI will return to cinema’s throughout Indonesia from 24 February to 18 March 2023.

“Australia is globally-renowned our expertise in film, and FSAI is an outstanding opportunity to rub shoulders with the experts and experience the best in Australian and Indonesian cinema,” Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Penny Williams PSM said.

This year’s festival features seven films and seven masterclasses across seven cities - opening in Jakarta on 18 February with the Indonesian premiere of the award-winning film Sweet As, an uplifting coming-of-age movie about unconventional friendships, first crushes and finding who you are on the road less travelled. FSAI will also hold screenings in Surabaya, Makassar, Mataram, Yogyakarta, Bandung, and Tangerang Selatan.

Other Australian titles include biographic drama Penguin Bloom, Moon Rock for Monday, The Drover’s Wife: The Legend of Molly Johnson and animated comedy Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, which was co-produced by Australian animation studio Animal Logic. FSAI 2023 also features two films produced by Australian Alumni Mira Lesmana, the thriller drama Paranoia and the homecoming story Humba Dreams.

2023 marks the 70th Anniversary of the Australian scholarships program in Indonesia. To celebrate, FSAI 2023 will also include a range of exclusive events for Australian Alumni, including special screenings and networking events.
