The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) invites applications for the 2023 John Doherty Asia-Pacific Media Internship program.
The program honours the late John Doherty, one of the founders of the ABC Asia Pacific, and comprises a two-week intensive internship with the ABC between 1 May and 3 June 2023 based in Melbourne, Australia.
The program is open for nominations for television, radio or digital media journalists, and will allow interns to develop their communication, writing and media skills through on-the-job training in a fast-paced, modern broadcasting environment. The internship will develop relationships, build skills, and provide media professionals with relevant opportunities to report on relevant aspects of a modern and diverse Australia.
Successful applicants will be fully funded and need to currently be working in digital media, radio or television, with a proven track record as an accurate and fair journalist. Industry experience of three-ten years is desirable, with a good level of English required. Suitable female candidates are encouraged to apply, with all candidates required to be available to travel internationally for two consecutive weeks between 1 May and 3 June 2023.
