Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Ms Penny Williams PSM met with students and faculty of SD Ar-Ridha Al Salaam today, one of 210 Indonesian schools participating in the Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program.
“It’s great to visit SD Ar-Ridha Al Salaam and meet the students to learn about the wonderful connections they have made with their Australian peers through the Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships program,” said Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Penny Williams.
During the visit, Ambassador Williams was joined by Mr Costa Georgiadis and Ms Tammy Huynh, award-winning Australian horticulturists, and hosts of popular ABC Australia television program, Gardening Australia. With the students, they explored the school’s recently updated Australia-Indonesia themed garden and planted Australian eucalyptus tree saplings.
The Australia-Indonesia garden, first established in 2018, was the result of a collaboration between the students of SD Ar-Ridha Al Salaam and their Australian sister school, Beechworth Primary School in Victoria.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the BRIDGE International School Partnerships Program, which supports sister school partnerships between educational institutions in Australia and Asia. In Indonesia, BRIDGE operates in 18 provinces and brings together more than 400 school communities and 800 Indonesian and Australian teachers.
