Indonesia’s Chief of Army Staff (2021-2023) was awarded one of Australia’s highest honours at a ceremony at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta yesterday.
General Dudung Abdurachman was appointed an honorary officer of the Order of Australia (Military Division), in recognition of his outstanding leadership and commitment to the Australia-Indonesia defence relationship.
Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Penny Williams said the award recognises General Dudung’s career achievements, in particular his commitment to enhancing strategic dialogue between senior defence leadership and increasing the number of joint training and exchanges between our military personnel.
“Under General Dudung’s leadership, the Australia-Indonesia defence relationship has grown stronger and our military personnel have become closer,” Ambassador Williams said.
“General Dudung’s dedication has enhanced our capacity to operate effectively together,” she said.
General Dudung Abdurachman assumed the role of Indonesian Chief of Army Staff in November 2021. His focus on education and training saw the first ever Indonesian Army graduates of the Royal Military College – Duntroon, and consolidation of increased bilateral training placements and personnel exchanges. Through his leadership, General Dudung’s efforts have continued to build trust and professional connections between the two Armies.
