This week, Australia’s Ambassador for Climate Change, Kristin Tilley, visited Indonesia to continue deepening bilateral cooperation on energy transition.
Ambassador Tilley met the Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif and senior Indonesian Government officials to discuss the growing cooperation between Indonesia and Australia in climate change and energy transition.
Following the recent ASEAN-Australia Special Summit held in Australia in March, Ambassador Tilley had the opportunity to attend the ASEAN Centre for Energy in Jakarta to discuss priority areas for cooperation under the ASEAN-Australia energy cooperation program.
“The prospects for Indonesia and Australia to build on our already impressive climate and energy transition cooperation are extremely promising,” said Ambassador Tilley.
“My visit to Indonesia emphasised the strong relationship Indonesia and Australia have on these issues and more broadly, and I am excited about the work we are doing together to address climate change – one of the world’s most serious challenges.”
The visit provided Ambassador Tilley with an opportunity to highlight Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, particularly the potential for increased two-way trade and investment in green energy transition.
