This week, the Australian Embassy in Jakarta is launching Taste of Australia, with Brent Draper, Winner of MasterChef Australia 2023.
Running from 20-25 June, Taste of Australia is part of the Embassy's celebrations for the 75th anniversary of Australia-Indonesia diplomatic relations.
Brent’s visit includes a BBQ Festival, cooking demonstrations and workshops, as well as meeting with food entrepreneurs and Australian alumni in Surabaya and Jakarta. He is sharing knowledge and experience with Indonesian chefs and trying local delicacies to learn more about Indonesia’s diverse food culture and traditions.
"I am a big fan of Indonesian cuisine, with its rich spices and endless variety across the archipelago. Combining Australian and Indonesian food culture is very exciting,” said Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Penny Williams.
Taste of Australia 2024 highlights the wide variety and versatility of fresh Australian produce and products available in Indonesia.
“I am pleased to see high-quality Australian products increasingly accessible to Indonesians in their nearest supermarket, so people can turn Australian ingredients into delicious Indonesian dishes," Ambassador Williams added.
Taste of Australia 2024, supported by Qantas, celebrates the diversity of multicultural Australian cuisine. It is an opportunity for Indonesians and Australians to learn about each other through food and builds on Australia’s reputation as a supplier of high quality, safe and sustainable produce.
