The Australian Embassy Jakarta held the “Gig on the Green” festival for Australian alumni on 7 September, with music performances and a classic Aussie BBQ at Thamrin 10, Jakarta.
This year’s event featured Australian singer Matthew Ifield, the Australia-raised Indonesian performer Maseta, and Indonesian act Mocca. MCs Mutiara Azka and Aldi Tama provided entertainment.
The Embassy hosts this mini music festival each year to welcome home recently returned Indonesian alumni, celebrate their success, and foster their ongoing connection to Australia. Over 700 alumni attended the event in Jakarta.
This year, Gig on the Green will also be held in Surabaya for the first time, with 300 alumni expected to attend.
“Australia’s alumni in Indonesia hold deep personal connections with Australia that underpin the close partnership between our two countries,” said Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Penny Williams PSM. “As we celebrate 75 years of Australia-Indonesia diplomatic relations this year, we are particularly proud of the enormous contribution made by our alumni community.”
Australian alumni vendors, including ST. Ali, Kopi Kenangan, Kebab Turki Baba Rafi, Foodtalk.id, Mangan House Catering, Meat Emporium Bali, and Raka ice cream provided the food and beverages for the event.
Australia’s Qantas Airways, as well as Indonesian companies Panorama JTB Tours, RS Premier Jatinegara, Kebab Turki Baba Rafi, Ecomama, Aquarev, Mangan House Catering, Ria Miranda and Casita by Elasador supported this year’s Gig on the Green.
