The Australian Embassy Jakarta presented a film masterclass as part of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy’s International Creative Industry Conference and Festival (IC Fest) today at Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta.

"Australia and Indonesia are working together to promote a vibrant and innovative future for the creative industries. Film is an important medium that has the power to strengthen connections between our two countries," said Chloe Ashbolt, Counsellor Public Affairs, Australian Embassy Jakarta.

Award-winning Australian alumna, actress, presenter and journalist Marissa Anita, moderated the masterclass targeted at aspiring filmmakers, directors, producers, and filmmaking enthusiasts.

Tia Hasibuan, producer and co-founder of 'Come and See Pictures', joined Marissa and shared her expertise in film production, recent developments in Indonesia's film industry, current opportunities for emerging filmmakers, and practical tips on film production skills.

Participants also gained insights into the Australian Embassy’s annual Festival Sinema Australia Indonesia, which highlights Australian and Australian alumni talent. This year’s festival, which celebrated 75 years of diplomatic relations between Australia and Indonesia, was held from 31 May- 23 June in ten cities across Indonesia (Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Padang, Surabaya, Mataram, Makassar, Manado, Samarinda, and Balikpapan).
