The work of talented artists with heritage across Southeast Asia and strong connections to Australia is now on show at ISA Art Gallery, Wisma 46 – Kota BNI, Jakarta, from 28 September to 29 November 2024.

Proudly presented by the Australian Mission to ASEAN and Indonesia’s ISA Art Gallery, the exhibition, titled Everything We Inherit, is part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of ASEAN-Australia dialogue relations this year.

Everything We Inherit reflects on the evolving notions of identity in an increasingly globalised world. Collectively, the artistic works weave a narrative that celebrates and showcases the rich history of transcultural exchange and movement across Southeast Asia and Australia.

"With over 1.1 million Australians with ancestry from Southeast Asia, people-to-people connections are at the heart of Australia’s relationship with ASEAN. This exhibition reflects on the creativity and enhanced cultural understanding that comes with the breadth and depth of these ties," said Australian Ambassador to ASEAN, Tiffany McDonald.

“Everything We Inherit is an exhibition celebrating the transnational connections forged within and across the Asia-Pacific region, inviting us to join in the artists' speculative imaginings of the region, its futures and new possible relationalities,” said exhibition curator Ms Jennifer Yang.
