The Australia-Indonesia education partnership program, INOVASI (Innovation for Indonesia’s School Children) was honoured with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s Literacy and Numeracy Partner Appreciation Award at the Gelar Aksi Nyata Pemulihan Pembelajaran (Gerak Mulia) event in Jakarta, on 12 October 2024.
"In 2024, we celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Australia, and education is a key part of our partnership. Australia and Indonesia work closely together on so many aspects of education – from literacy and numeracy for school children to research in universities,” said Madeleine Moss, Minister Counsellor for Governance and Human Development at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta.
This recognition underscores INOVASI's continuous contribution to improving literacy and numeracy in Indonesia. The third phase of the INOVASI program, worth AUD 55 million over four years (2024-2027), was launched earlier this year. It focuses on strengthening education at the local level to facilitate learning and achievement of foundational skills for Indonesian primary students, including children with disabilities.
INOVASI works in six provinces in Indonesia: North Kalimantan, West Java, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku supporting the Indonesian government’s education objectives.
