Australian Companies Explore Collaboration with Indonesia on Infrastructure

Media Release

14 October 2024

The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) invited 11 Australian infrastructure development companies to Indonesia last week to explore opportunities to contribute to Indonesia’s infrastructure development.

“Australia and Indonesia are long-term infrastructure partners, through cooperation in investment, financing, and knowledge exchange. We’re pleased to see Australian companies seeking opportunities to leverage their expertise to support Indonesia’s infrastructure development aims,” said Mr Rod Commerford, Australian Trade and Investment Commissioner Jakarta.

The event included a business networking session attended by around 60 key Indonesian industry stakeholders, and presentations from the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers Indonesia, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the Australia-Indonesia infrastructure partnership program (KIAT).

Noting the importance of infrastructure development in the region, Australia has prioritised the infrastructure sector in the Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040. The strategy, launched one year ago in Jakarta, outlines a practical pathway to significantly increase two-way trade and investment between Australia and Southeast Asia.
