Australia’s Western Sydney University formally launched the first international campus in Surabaya today. This is an important milestone, as we continue to forge stronger education and people-to-people ties between Australia and Indonesia.
“Education is central to the Australia-Indonesia partnership, so it’s wonderful that Western Sydney University is opening a campus in Indonesia. This new campus opens up new opportunities for Indonesian students to access Australia’s world-class education,” said Australian Chargé d’Affaires to Indonesia, Gita Kamath.
“Western Sydney University is the first foreign university to open a branch campus in Surabaya. Through this campus, we are committed to contributing to the economic and human capital development of East Java and beyond,” said Chancellor of Western Sydney University, Jennifer Westacott AO.
Western Sydney University’s Surabaya campus welcomed its first student cohort in September 2024, in the undergraduate fields of computer and data science, information technology and business. In September 2025, it will offer new postgraduate programs, alongside its current undergraduate offerings.
Western Sydney University has been recognised as the number one university in the Times Higher Education’s Impact Rankings for its social, economic, and environmental impact for three years in a row.
