Australia-Southeast Asia Regional Development Partnership Plan

Media Release

21 February 2025

Australia launched the new Australia-Southeast Asia Regional Development Partnership Plan 2024-2028, on Thursday 20 February 2025, in the margins of the 37th ASEAN-Australia Forum in Jakarta.

“The Plan will take forward the priorities we share with ASEAN and contribute to recommendations identified in Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 including support for quality infrastructure, the clean energy transition, agriculture and food security, international education and skills,” said Australia’s Ambassador to ASEAN, Tiffany McDonald.

The Australia-Southeast Asia Regional Development Partnership Plan reflects Australia’s commitment to maintaining long-term and flexible support for ASEAN and the region.

Australia provides $1.3 billion Official Development Assistance in Southeast Asia each year.

The Australia-Southeast Asia Regional Development Partnership Plan complements Australia’s seven bilateral Plans with Southeast Asian countries, including with Indonesia launched in August last year.

The Plan is available on the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website.
