Australia and Indonesia are committed in working together to advance gender equality and empower women and girls.
The Australian Embassy, together with partners in the Indonesian Government, civil society organisations, think-tanks and the private sector held a month-long program of events to celebrate International Women’s Day.
“Every year, we celebrate International Women’s Day to reminds us that gender equality and empowering women and girls benefits everyone. Australia and Indonesia work together to advance this agenda, fostering an inclusive society where no one is left behind,” said Gita Kamath, Australian Chargé d'Affaires to Indonesia.
This month-long program of events included:
- Celebrating outstanding women leaders and launching knowledge products to support women at the 25th anniversary of KAPAL Perempuan, an Indonesian Civil Society Organisation (CSO) supported through Australia-Indonesia Partnership Towards an Inclusive Society (INKLUSI) program.
- A collective talk show at Car Free Day in Kupang, Nusa Tenggara Timur, from INKLUSI’s CSOs (GARAMIN NTT, Ume Daya Nusantara, PKBI NTT, PEKA-PM) to accelerate action for Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara.
- Initiated a pop-up market to introduce local products produced by women-led businesses with PEKKA (Pemberdayaan Perempuan Kepala Keluarga).
