Australian Alumni Gather for Silaturahmi

More than 300 Australian alumni gathered at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta for an alumni halalbihalal on 15 April.

Senior alumni leaders including Head of Statistics Indonesia, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, Vice Minister for Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto, and others representing government, business, media, the creative economy, and not-for-profit sectors joined Embassy staff for silaturahmi, celebrating the close friendship between Australia and Indonesia.

"Our alumni community embodies the warm friendship and enduring ties between the people of our two countries,” said Australian Chargé d’Affaires, Gita Kamath. "Australia is very proud of our impressive alumni community, and of the important role they are playing in shaping the future of Indonesia."

Australia has the largest alumni network in Indonesia, with well over 200,000 alumni across the archipelago. Australian alumni are a diverse group of thinkers and leaders, who are making a difference in their workplaces and communities.

Australia's prestigious scholarships program, the Australia Awards, is the longest running foreign scholarships program in Indonesia. Applications for Australia Awards scholarships for PhD and Masters study in Australia are open now until 30 April.

Applications for the LPDP-Australia Awards Scholarships for Masters study in Australia are open now until 5 May.
