The Australian Embassy Minister Counsellor for Governance and Human Development, Mr Tim Stapleton, visited West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province on 28-30 April 2025.
During the visit, Mr Stapleton met with the newly appointed Governor of NTB, Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, and discussed their mutual commitment to improving development outcomes in NTB Province through Australia and Indonesia development partnership programs.
“Australia and Indonesia have strong commitment to inclusive and sustainable development,” said Mr Stapleton. “I am very pleased to see the impact of our programs for communities in NTB Province in line with Indonesia’s development priorities.”
Mr Stapleton also met key stakeholders involved in ongoing Australia-Indonesia partnership programs in the province, where results are promising. These include:
- Strengthening protection and empowerment of migrant workers through engagement with local government, CSOs and communities
- Improvement of students’ learning outcomes through empowering the education ecosystem
- Enhancing provincial capacity to prepare for and respond to disasters by strengthening the Emergency Operations Centre/Pusdalops at the provincial level
- Tax relief for peoples with disabilities who use modified vehicles, enabling them to be more independent and to earn higher incomes
- Strengthening long-term educational partnerships between Australian and Indonesian schools and enhancement of teacher’s skills
- Improvement in local community's climate-adaption measures through research and innovation
