Media Release

30 April 2025

Australia’s Chargé d’Affaires Gita Kamath joined Ibu Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) President Director Bapak Darmawan Prasodjo and Asian Development Bank (ADB) Indonesia Country Director Jiro Tominaga to recognise PLN’s achievements in promoting equality for women in the workplace.

PLN hosted the PLN Gender Summit: Sustainability and Equality on 30 April to celebrate PLN receiving EDGE certification, a global business certification standard for gender equal-ity in the workplace. Australia and ADB supported PLN’s certification.

“Empowering women in leadership positions benefits everyone,” said Australian Chargé d’Affaires, Gita Kamath.

“We were delighted PLN has become the first state owned enterprise in Indonesia to re-ceive international recognition for implementing gender equality policies within its corpo-rate structure.”

Australia, Indonesia and the ADB have partnered to attract increased foreign investment in Indonesian infrastructure from diverse high-quality sources, by strengthening the infra-structure investment environment, government policies, and institutional capacity.
