Australia’s New Ambassador to Indonesia Presents Credentials

Ambassador Rod Brazier has presented his credentials to President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka State Palace in Jakarta yesterday.

“It is an immense honour to represent Australia as Ambassador to Indonesia,” said Ambassador Brazier. “Australia and Indonesia share an unbreakable bond, and I look forward to our partnership becoming closer, stronger and more mutually beneficial.”

Ambassador Brazier was most recently Deputy Secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, responsible for development and multilateral issues.

He has previously served overseas as High Commissioner to Solomon Islands.

In Canberra, he led the International Policy division in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and has held a range of other senior positions across the Australian public service and the non-government sector.

Ambassador Brazier speaks fluent Indonesian. In 1990, he spent six months at Universitas Hasanuddin, Makassar. Later, he lived and worked in Jakarta for several years.

Ambassador Brazier holds a Master of Arts, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) (Asian Studies), Griffith University.
