More than 40 Indonesian Government representatives from across Indonesia gathered with the Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE (Building Relationships through Intercultural Dialogue and Growing Engagement) educators at the Australian Embassy Jakarta for BRIDGE’s Education Stakeholder Engagement Meeting (ESEM) today.

Director General of Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary Education, Indonesian Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Gogot Suharwoto Ph.D emphasised the role of education in strengthening intercultural understanding and the importance of building global competence through school partnerships.

Australian Embassy Minister-Counsellor Political and Strategic Communications Nicola Campion said, “the Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program has made an enormous contribution to the people-to-people connections between our two countries. I hope that all participants can continue to learn from one another, understand each other better, and develop strong and enduring friendships.”

Since its establishment in 2008, BRIDGE has established 253 school partnerships across 18 provinces in Indonesia and all states and territories in Australia.
