Indonesian Scholars Begin Study in Australia Journey

Media Release

12 September 2025

More than 200 Indonesian Masters and PhD scholarship recipients took part in an Australia Awards Pre-Departure Training (PDT) Enrichment Week from 8-12 September 2025. These scholars will commence their studies in Australia in 2026.

The PDT Enrichment Week is a comprehensive program aimed at preparing scholars with the knowledge, skills and network to succeed during their studies in Australia and beyond. The program combines briefings, academic and thematic workshops, and networking sessions. It also includes information sessions from Australian universities on study options, campus life and support services.

“Congratulations to these scholars who are embarking on a transformational education journey. We look forward to seeing these future leaders strengthen the connections between people that are at the heart of the Indonesia-Australia relationship,” said Chloe Ashbolt, Counsellor Public Affairs at the Australian Embassy Indonesia.

The pre-departure program was organised by the Australian Government in partnership with the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of State Secretariat. Participants included Australia Awards, LPDP-Australia Awards, and Australian Centre for Agricultural Research scholarship recipients.

Australia’s scholarships program in Indonesia has been running for more than 70 years. In 2024, Australia and Indonesia also launched a new Australia Awards - Indonesia Education Endowment Fund (LPDP) collaboration to ensure more Indonesians can experience Australia’s world-class education.
