Today, Australian Deputy Ambassador to Indonesia, Gita Kamath officially opened the #AussieBanget University Roadshow at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta (UIN Jakarta), celebrating the strong educational ties between Australia and Indonesia.
“Education is at the heart of the Australia-Indonesia partnership,” said Deputy Ambassador Kamath. “Through initiatives like the #AussieBanget Roadshow, we continue to build bridges of knowledge, collaboration, and mutual understanding.”
The Roadshow featured a thematic panel discussion on peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region. The panel included Ms Susannah Patton, Deputy Research Director and Program Director for Southeast Asia at the prestigious Australian think tank, the Lowy Institute, Ahmad Khoirul Umam, Ph.D, Managing Director at Paramadina Public Policy Institute Jakarta and Dr Badrus Sholeh, Lecturer at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
The event brought together students, academics, and experts from Australia and Indonesia to explore the roles of both countries in promoting regional stability and cooperation.
Australian-themed booths, information session on the Australia Awards Scholarship program and research collaboration opportunities through Australia’s Knowledge Partnership Platform (KONEKSI) were available during the Roadshow.
Since its launch in 2024, the #AussieBanget University Roadshow has partnered with universities across Indonesia, fostering ongoing educational exchanges and celebrating enduring people-to-people ties between Australia and Indonesia.
